LONG VIEW — The Town of Long View said it will no longer collect bamboo as part of regular brush pickup, effective immediately, because Blackburn Landfill no longer accepts bamboo.
The town notice posted as a brush-pickup update states that landfill policy makes it impossible to dispose of bamboo through the normal brush collection process.
Residents may rent the Town of Long View box truck for $75 per load, and town staff will haul the bamboo to an approved disposal location, the notice says.
If bamboo is mixed in with a brush pile, the entire pile will not be collected. The town asked residents to keep bamboo separate from other brush to avoid missed pickups.
The town said it understands the change may be an inconvenience and asked for cooperation. Questions may be directed to Town Hall at 828-322-3921.
The notice does not name an alternate landfill, a weekly pickup schedule, or a start date beyond “effective immediately.” Pack 1’s Long View listing dated this page July 22, 2026; no separate publication date prints on the article itself.
