HICKORY — The City of Hickory Community Relations Council named Hickory City Schools Superintendent Dr. Jennifer Griffin the 2026 Human Relations Award recipient, the city said April 27, 2026. The award was presented at the Hickory Multicultural Festival downtown on April 25.
Each year, the CRC recognizes individuals, organizations, and businesses that go “above and beyond” in fostering positive human relations in Hickory. The city said Griffin’s leadership, work with students and families, and community connections met that test.
The notice lists her background as a Teaching Fellow, teacher, principal, curriculum specialist, National Board Certified educator, and Hickory City Schools parent. It said she is known for open communication, elevating student and parent voices, strengthening partnerships, and promoting transparency.
The city said Griffin works with community partners, staff, and families; marks student and employee achievements; collaborates with regional education leaders; and prioritizes staff wellness. It credited her leadership on major district projects, arts and athletics, restoring the Education Foundation, and building a culture in which people feel valued.
