CLAREMONT — The Claremont City Council adopted the city’s Fiscal Year 2026-2027 budget during its regular meeting on June 18, 2026, the city said in a notice published Monday, June 22.
The adopted budget becomes effective July 1, 2026. The city said the plan is balanced under North Carolina law and continues a commitment to responsible financial management, public safety, infrastructure investment, and municipal services.
The adopted General Fund budget totals approximately $5.78 million. The Water and Sewer Fund budget totals approximately $2.69 million. The municipal property tax rate stays at $0.4175 per $100 of assessed valuation, which the city described as continuing Claremont’s longstanding commitment to maintaining one of the lowest municipal tax rates in the region.
Infrastructure work listed in the notice includes pump station rehabilitation, water tank maintenance, sewer system improvements, and long-term planning for regional wastewater infrastructure enhancements. The city said those investments are meant to improve reliability, operational efficiency, and long-term sustainability while positioning Claremont for future growth.
City Manager Jason Brown thanked City Council, staff, and residents for taking part in the budget process.
“The Fiscal Year 2026-2027 Budget reflects months of planning and collaboration,” Brown said. “This financial plan positions the City to maintain essential services, address infrastructure needs, and continue building a strong foundation for future success.”

The June 22 notice does not list individual council votes or a dollar change from the prior year.
