NEWTON — Parks and Recreation said May 28, 2026, that registration for the 2026 youth football season opens Monday, June 1, and runs through Friday, July 24. Children ages 4 through 12 are invited to sign up.
The city lists both flag and tackle:
- Flag football: ages 4–6
- Tackle Pee Wee: ages 7–8
- Tackle junior varsity: ages 9–10
- Tackle varsity: ages 11–12
Player age is determined as of Aug. 31, 2026. Participants must be 4 years old by the start of the season.
Practice is scheduled to begin Aug. 1 if enough players register in each division. The city asked families to register early so rosters can fill and preparation can start on time.
Required documents are a physical examination form dated for 2026, a birth certificate, a blue card, signed parental consent forms, and a signed Parents’ Code of Ethics form.
Registration is open to eligible youth in the Newton community. Non-Newton residents sign up for $30. The city said football helps young athletes build athletic skill along with discipline, teamwork, confidence, and sportsmanship.
