HICKORY — Saturday Screenings return this summer with free movies at 8:30 p.m. on the second and fourth Saturdays of July and August, the City of Hickory said June 11, 2026.
The lineup is Pirates of the Caribbean: The Curse of the Black Pearl on July 11, A League of Their Own on July 25, Inside Out on Aug. 8, and A Minecraft Movie on Aug. 22. The city said all four are family-friendly with a PG or PG-13 rating.
Weather permitting, outdoor screenings are at Union Square in downtown Hickory. Concessions and games are available before each movie. The city asked audience members to bring blankets or lawn chairs and said children must be accompanied by an adult.
Jay Brown, Realtors is listed as presenter. Parks, Recreation & Sports Tourism is hosting in partnership with the Footcandle Film Society.
An update on the same page said the Aug. 8 screening was postponed because of weather and that Inside Out will screen at 8 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 12, on Union Square.
